Coronation Street Weekly Update, August 8 2011

Greetings and welcome to the Coronation Street Weekly Update. Without any further ado, here we go with this week's Coronation Street update.

It’s all change this week on Coronation Street as Dev the diplomat kicks Tina out of the shop flat so that daughter Amber can move in. Dev thinks he’ll be able to keep a watchful eye on Amber but he’s going to need eyes in the back of his Dev-head if he wants to keep track.  And is it just me, or does anything else think that Amber has changed, and not for the better? I liked the chirpy, cheeky little madam of an Amber that we used to have, not this stroppy cow that’s flirting with everyone from Tommy Duckworth to Sian.  And so with nowhere to live, Tina moves in with Tommy and Tyrone. There’s a dull storyline with Tommy double dating Tina and Amber but that boy Tommy’s so wooden I won’t press on with this because I just might fall aslee… zzzz.. .

Over at the Bistro, Becky starts work as a waitress and loses her cool with the customers when David and Kylie come in to eat. Then she shoves it to Steve who brings in a date to wind Becky up. Steve’s date’s called Beth, she’s an old flame from years ago, someone he went out with just the once (and you can see why). Beth brings with her son Craig, who’s Corrie comedy gold. He doesn’t say a word, just stares and sucks on his Coca-Cola straw. He needs to come back, he was that good. Anyway, Becky gets the sack and as there’s no one else to help, Gail gets the job of waitress for a night. She fawns all over the restaurant reviewer from the Weatherfield Gazette.My name’s Gail and I’ll be your waitress this evening,” she curtsies at him before dropping a false Gail nail into his pasta dish.



Meanwhile in the salon, it’s Happy Hardcore Monday as David and Kylie take over for the day when Audrey takes Monday off. I can’t see the Renshaw Twins being very happy with Happy Hardcore, can you?. Anyway, Kylie offers flakey-reiki, upsets Rita and Betty, puts Julie in agony and word gets back to Audrey, as you hoped it would. It’s Gail who goes round to Audrey’s to share the story of shame from the salon but Audrey’s got her hands full painting Marc’s nails and putting on his make-up to transform him into Marcia. So to stop Gail finding out that Marc’s got a face full of slap, he throws himself into a white chocolate gateau and covers his face with cream. Gail doesn’t seem to think anything’s wrong, takes the explanation that Marc’s wearing a face-pack and dawdles off back home with Marc and her mother’s secret kept safe.

Elsewhere, in one of those classic soap moments, Chris starts crying and shouting at anyone who’ll listen: “I’ve got a brain tumour!”. We can only hope his end will be swift, he’s been a waste of space since he first turned up.

In other news, Fred Elliott’s butcher shop now has a For Sale sign up outside. And at Streetcars, Fat Brenda rings in sick with the sound of seagulls in the background. “She’s on the beach with a bag of chips,” says Lloyd. Steve can only agree
