White Dog just shook her head in wonder. "It is amazing sometimes how when you truly believe in something, you can make miracles happen." "I know," I replied matching her wonder. "But it sure makes it seem like a message that you are doing the right thing."

We were discussing the 2MillionDog Puppy Up New Mexico Walk for Canine Cancer/ Comparative Oncology Research that we are spearheading. You might have noticed our barometer on the right sidebar. The Walk is a mere 6 weeks away and we are en meshed in the 20 million details involved in such an undertaking. One of those details has been finding just the perfect pup to be our Grand Marshall; we have put out several feelers but with no luck.

Yesterday we posted about the American Humane Association's eight finalists for American Dog Hero and noted with surprise and pride that two of the eight were from New Mexico. "Why not," Quinn pushed last night, "let's ask one of them to lead our parade!" "They are probably busy on tour around the country and beside how would we ever even start trying to get in contact with them?" I countered.

"Momma, this is our fight. We are totally committed to having a personal hand in ridding the world of the c monster. We have so many friends and so much energy behind us that we cannot be stopped. TRY!" Quinn pleaded.

Finalist, MWD Bino C152 in the Category: Military Dogs lives in Las Cruces, NM and since he is a retired military pup, I thought, "OK let's start there." Late last night I emailed Daisy Mae and Maple the poodles mom, Becca (her husband is stationed at the base there) and asked who she thought I should start with. I didn't really expect more than a general lead and was shocked when an hour later she wrote back to say

I FOUND BINO!

Not only had she found Bino, but animal lover and rescuer Rebecca also had a personal contact to the woman who Bino now lives who is the founder of Military Working Dogs Adoptions an organization that specializes in finding loving homes for pups who have served.

Rebecca met with Bino's mom tonight and astonishingly, she said she would be honored to have Bino head our Walk to howl and shout out against cancer. This, between being filmed by Hallmark for their special on American Dog Heroes and an interview. I cannot believe it! No convincing, no bargaining...just a simple, heartfelt "yes."

This is Bino's photo at the top of this post. We ask not just for the sake of his chosen charity, United States War Dog Association, which stands to win $10,000 but because one good turn deserves another...please go to http://www.herodogawards.org/ and vote for Bino. You can vote once every day until September 30th. He IS an American hero. The White Dog Army is most honored to have him at our side in our fight. cancer is looking over its shoulder now...we are growing stronger by the day!

We also draw strength from the newest stars in tonight's sky, Angels Tucker and Samick whose lives were both cut short by the monster. We fight with more determination than ever in the names of these blog friends.
