Stoneware estimated to be 3,500 years old have been unearthed in Tong’an, Xiamen by local farmer Mr. Zhang when he was planting trees. The 4 pieces of stoneware which were unearthed by Zhang are shaped like weapons and axes used by primitive people, reports dnkb.com.cn.
According to archaeological experts from Xiamen Museum, the stoneware belongs to the Bronze Age and today they will organize experts to do farther excavating to see if it’s a Bronze Age relic.
A month ago, when Mr. Zhang was digging a hole to plant a longan tree he unexpectedly found these special stones which have a smooth surface and different shapes with regular round holes. Zhang was told that these stones are primitive wares so he kept them at home.
According to Mr. Yan, a historical expert who is also the former Culture Bureau chief of Tong’an, noted that there are no round holes on stone wares that have been unearthed before in the Tong’an district.
If the stoneware is confirmed to be Neolithic Period tools, it will contribute a lot to the study of both ancient Tong’an and the primitive civilization of southern Fujian.
