White Dog, The Other White Dog, Another White Dog, Still Another White Dog, and Yet Another White Dog spent the morning whispering in the kitchen and supervising as they helped Steve put together a Mother's Day feast in honor of Candace and I. The smells were tantalizing but all I was told was that the theme was "Tea."

I tried to pretend I wasn't even curious but the tease was distracting...I could almost understand the the compelling drive motivating poor YoYoMa these days. Amazingly, after a night of his waking Puff every few hours to let her know he was ready whenever she was, he was well behaved throughout the day.

Candace and Gregg arrived with Dragon and Sen-ge in the late afternoon. The White Dog Army greeted everyone and introduced YoYo to our closest heart family. He loved the little guys but was a bit shy with the humans. We were handed tall icy glasses of Peach Tea and sparkling wine sangria with skewers of fresh fruit. White Dog helped Steve bring out the Goat Cheese and Yogurt dip seasoned with roibos chai and crispy rice crackers. The combination was perfect for our warm Spring Day and we visited and munched as the pups relaxed together.

Quinn and YoYo did the mas macho strut in the kitchen as they pushed each other to get the most samples as Steve finished up the main course: Chicken breasts poached in fruity black tea, asparagus, and a smokey Earl Grey infused curried rice. Wow! The room was suddenly very crowded as the SEVEN (OMG 7!) pups swarmed from person to person demanding bites of chicken. Steve kindly took a portion into the Office where Puff had been sequestered for her sanity as well as for general peacekeeping. She seemed to appreciate both the quiet AND the treat.

White Dog had planned a little Agility Fun in the backyard using the new equipment sent by our friends Fergie and Jake, and their humans, but the heat combined with THE Heat and the fullness of pup tummies caused a shift: naps on the cool porch and under the chairs.

But the Tea Party was not over. Steve brought out a fresh and luscious sorbet he had made using mangoes and green tea! We groaned, but no one left a single drip in his/her bowls.

After, there was lots of time to cuddle...and we called our Heart Family in California. Today they adopted...oops we mean took in a foster...Paddington. He is a tiny Eskie mix and we welcomed him long distance. It was a fantastic capper to a day celebrating fur-momness!

We hope all of the fur mommies out there had a day filled with love, and special attention, and joy. You are all extra wonderful and deserve all of the Blessings of the Universe for the dogzillion and eighty things you do everyday to share your love, nurture us, and care about all our needs.

Happy Mothers Day!
