Archaeological digs on Georgian-Azerbaijani border to start in autumn

Archaeological digs on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border in the place where fragments of a column were revealed will start in autumn. Georgian archaeologists have already held primary works in Dedoplistskaroy region.

Both damaged and the safe part of the chapiter were found while studying the area. According to scientists, these may be fragments of either a temple or an architectural utility of any other type and are purportedly dated to the 5-4th centuries BC.

"The chapiter fragments were found during sowing. We also revealed fragments of a wall", said chief of the archaeological center Yulon Gagoshidze.
