White Dog loyally got up with me every single time I had to rush to the bathroom during the night and by morning we were both exhausted. But my body felt purged, like I was finally coming out of the nasty flu that knocked me for a loop the past couple of days. At breakfast, water and a bit of scone actually tasted ok and I was certainly ready for soup at lunch. "Woohoo, I am going to live!" was my cry and the White Dogs gathered around to nuzzle and congratulate me.
By afternoon I could actually discuss the menu for tomorrow's Birthday Feast (always held the weekend after my birthday) and put together a shopping/cooking schedule. Needless to say, I won't have a hand in the kitchen but I will (along with our usual fluffy white supervisors) be able to encourage and answer Steve's questions. I gave into temptation tonight to sample the Moroccan Date appetizers and found they were delicious. Quinn says that is a clear signal that I will be able to fully enjoy the meal tomorrow...I hope he is right.
I am so thankful for Steve and The White Dog Army for picking up my slack these past 48+ hours. And for taking such good care of me. I am grateful, too, for all of your healing energy and positive thoughts...your vibes provided the extra ooomph I needed to beat this bug. It is MY wish that all you and yours stay healthy and avoid the nasties that seem to be making the rounds.
And yes, during the night, Michael came up to tell us he was having "what Sue has."
