A new archaeological center has been opened in Gostini dvor in the center of Moscow. The center presents all the latest finds by local archeologists in the territory of Mosocw and includes a scientific library as well.
The expocenter is primarily dedicated to finds discovered during excavations near Gostini Dvor, and one of the halls in the center is dedicated to the recent digging works carried out in the territory of Moscow.
The head of the Moscow Cultural Heritage Department Alexander Kibovsky mentioned at the opening ceremony that the private library of the well-known Moscow archeologist Kirill Smirnov was donated to the Department, and this collection would be also kept in the scientific-methodical archaeological center.
According to him, the collection will be digitized, and will also become accessible on the website of the Moscow Cultural Heritage Department.
On weekdays the museum will work free of charge for all comers.
