An Alutiiq Language Summit was held last Thursday at the Alutiiq Museum. According to this story in the Kodiak Daily Mirror, the summit provided an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of the museum's National Science Foundation grant, which will be ending in June. The project has produced many hours of Native language recordings while creating 285 new words. Most importantly, by bringing together speakers and learners the project has served as a catalyst for Alutiiq language revitalization efforts.
