There has recently been something of a kerfluffle about the very concept of IMM posts. I thought I would tell you why I post each week. The post serves two purposes. First, I want a reminder of what I am choosing to add to my book collection or accept for review. Second, I want to put books on other people's radar. So many books are available that it is easy to overlook a less publicized book that may well be a hidden gem.
This week I am still on a book buying ban. But I was weak and purchased one book.
I saw a great review of this book on someone's blog and fell in love with the cover. I can't resist romances where the hero is a professional athlete. I couldn't pass up Game for Anything by Bella Andre when I saw that the trade paperback was on sale for $5.60. I had intended only to put it on my Amazon wishlist and wait for my book buying ban to be over. And, not only did I buy it, but I have already read it. I loved the total escapism of this romance. My review will be posted on Feb. 17.
I also visited NetGalley this week and chose these books for review.
The Vampire Voss by Colleen Gleason had an intriguing blurb. Since I like vampire stories but haven't read anything by Gleason, I thought I would give it a try. This book will be published on March 22, 2011.
I also chose Spirit Dances by C. E. Murphy. This is another book in the Walker Papers series. I have read some of them but will have to do some checking to see if I am caught up. I do have a few books by C. E. Murphy still on the TBR stack. This one will also be published on March 22, 2011.
I was alerted to these titles via the Shelf Awareness daily email newsletter. This is a great news resource and a resource for finding ARCs in a wide variety of genres. I haven't read much science fiction lately but these intrigued me.
Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey seems like a traditional space opera with mysteries, various intrigues, and threats of war. Look for this one in books stores June 15.
The Dragon's Path by Daniel Abraham is high fantasy. The product description begins: "All paths lead to war..." Look for this one in bookstores on April 7.
Both of these titles are from Orbit. They have asked that no review be posted until two weeks before publication. I will be following the rules. So, look for my thoughts on these titles then.
