Someone pointed out in a comment that the word is quite close to �apoplectic��and supposed that apoplectic irony would be Homer's Doh! Brilliant.

Here is an example of apoleptic irony from Superman II. Our hero appears to have disarmed himself and is about to hand over the keys to the kingdom to General Zod...or is he?
