White Dog and the rest of the Army sadly watched as Steve finished packing away the Christmas ornaments and readied the tree to go to the curb for recycling.
"It went so fast," Quinn woofed. "Things seem so...ordinary now," Nuka agreed. "Tomorrow everything is back to the old routine of dad working the mailman just bringing bills and no more cookies or special treats," Puff quietly added. "Well, we'll still get treats, you all know that," TOWD corrected, "but the magic is certainly over."
WD sized up her pack and took a deep breath. "You know, it is what we make it! We can be all sad about the Christmas/New Year holidays being over or we can go about making everyday special in some way! We are all pretty darn lucky, you know!" With that she gave "The Look " to the other pups and continued. "We are not alone anymore, any of us! If we all work together we can do incredible things! We are an Army, for dog's sake! Things aren't ending, they are just beginning! Have some hope and then work to make changes, I promise along the way, we will have PLENTY of reasons to celebrate!"
I gave my Wise Girl a hug and whispered "thanks" into her ear, for I, like the others was feeling down about returning to normal. Tonight on FB we discovered this beautiful and inspiring video that we want to share as Thanks to all of our friends (Khyra, Random Felines, Brian, Daisy Mae, our own Michael, and so many others) for giving us reasons every single week to celebrate our collective progress in making a difference.
