It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
I had a busy week reading and playing Zuma Blitz on my computer. I think I'm addicted to the game. Otherwise, I had a doctor's appointment to get ready for my cataract surgery this coming Wednesday. I hope it goes as they say. They are talking about correcting my very near-sighted eye to nearly 20/20.
Last week I read:
The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa is the third in this young adult paranormal series. I love the characters and the whole world that is built. The book will be published on Jan. 25. My review will be posted on Jan. 13.
In Too Deep by Jayne Ann Krentz starts a new Arcane Society trilogy. I am a big fan of Krentz's style. I love the quirky characters and the crisp dialog. This book succeeded at both those things. Krentz is a master of paranormal romantic suspense. My review will be posted on Jan. 13.
Delirium by Lauren Oliver is a young adult dystopia. In her future US, love has been identified as a disease and a cure has been found. Our female main character is very worried about catching the disease and is eager for the cure until she meets a young man who forces her to take another look at her society. This book comes out on Feb. 1 and my review will be posted on Jan. 15.
Haunted by Your Touch is an anthology including stories by Jeaniene Frost, Shayla Black and Sharie Kohler. I bought it for the story by Frost and did enjoy her story. These are all paranormal romances. My review will be posted on Jan. 15.
I have also been trying to catch up on the books that I have for review. They will be keeping me busy next week.
Carina Press is new to NetGalley. I looked through their offerings and chose three titles. All are going to be published as ebooks. The first one I read was The Mysterious Lady Law by Robert Appleton. I just finished this one before I started this post. It is a steampunk mystery set in an alternate Victorian London. It is novella length but filled with wonderful, imaginative gadgets. My review will be posted on Jan. 19.
Next week (and starting later today) I will be reading the other two ebooks from Carina Press that I got from NetGalley. They both have January publication dates.
The Bartered Virgin by Chevon Gael is historical fiction and Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley is a contemporary romance. I really like the variety of stories that Carina Press offers and will have to keep on eye on them.
After that, I have a few young adult books for review that will be published early in February. I will be reading Cryer's Cross by Lisa McMann, Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton, and Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton. Two of these are Adobe Digital Editions that I have to read on my computer screen which isn't really my favorite way to do bunches of reading but I am really interested in the stories.
