White Dog woofed, as she does everyday, to let Michael know that his bus was here. Except, unlike other mornings, he did not go rushing out of the door and the bus drove off witout him...then Steve and I left with Michael shortly after. At her questioning look, I explained that we had a 7:30 (yes, a.m.!) meeting at school to plan next semester for our resident high school student.

When we returned, the White Dogs wanted a full report but White Dog and The Other White Dog were late for their Christmas grooming appointment so they were were quickly gathered up and rushed off to see Seven and the gang at the spa. The results, later, were spectactular...as our snow white WD and TOWD sparkled with raindrops on their coats and were floofed to maximum soft. I just wanted to bury my face in their sides...and did...until both pulled away with "Enough!" looks.

Pumpkin was getting quite a workout as we drove for a rare weekday breakfast out, just Steve and I, as I was really in need of coffee by then and Steve wanted to do something to celebrate his "Get Things Done" Day off from the office. The coffee and conversation added a warm civilized moment to a cold rainy busy morn.

Back in Pumpkin, we dashed home and leashed the "new" kids...they had an appointment with Dr. Julia! Woohoo! Car rides! Without the big kids! Both picked car spots normally reserved for WD and TOWD and acted like they ruled the taxi!

Nuka has been shaking her head and rubbing her ears so we thought it was a good time for our trusted vet to meet Another White Dog! We were very nervous since all of Nuka's adoption paperwork indicated that she HATED vets, was a biter, and that she would need sedation to accomplish anything!Thank dog, AWD had not read her own PR. She was calm and accepting as Dr. Julia and her tech checked ears, added medication, generally poked, prodded and palpitated.

She even gave the tech a kiss on the cheek (something she never does at home; Steve hypothesized that Linda must have been wearing beef flavored cheek blush)! Our Rubenesque Reskie needs to lose a couple of pounds, according to Dr. Julia, who conceded that maybe that conversation best be had after the holidays...and all the humans in the room agreed.

Puff was a bit more nervous. Hers, after all, is a much more serious situation. SAWD has gained a pound since we first got her, which is a good thing for the bone thin girl; but Steve as asked, "How do we put one pup on a diet while encouraging the other to eat more?

Dr. Julia checked Puff's heart, lungs and congestion and pronounced that all sounded improved. This coupled with SAWD's increased interest in life and returning vigor, indicates that the Heart Worm Treatment is going well. The next step occurs on January 3 and 4 when Puff gets the final two doses of treatment. A month later she will receive the Heart Worm Preventative that most dogs get; this will guarantee that no eggs or larvae survive. THEN after 4 months, Dr. Julia will rerun all the tests and scans to make sure that disease has been successfully eradicated. She is not out of danger yet. Puff's prognosis is much much better than the initial "guardedly positive," which is a tribute to how tough this little girl is...and to the Power of the Paw's healing energies. Thanks for your prayers and positive thoughts from Puff the Magical...and all of her family.
