December 13, 2010

White Dog lifted her head, yawned, then settled back against my shoulder. The Mighty Quinn was stretched across the front door, his back against the cool glass as he made soft snorting noises in his sleep. Nuka was curled on the white shag dog rug on the hearth with her nose tucked under her tail and the sun streaming down to spotlight her. Puff lay on her side with toes twitching as she slumbered far enough inside the living room so that she could see us all but still close to the hallway should she need a fast escape.

I surveyed my White Dog Army and smiled softly. This was a moment of clarity where I knew that all the pieces would fall into place and that each of the pups would find their true natures and would feel safe, loved and part of a family...in time. But for right now just this glimpse was enough to make me teary with happiness.

Of some note: We are a mere 8 posts away from our two thousandth entry, which by our calculations will occur the day before White Dog's Sixth Barkday! We are planning a two-day celebration that will require the help of all of you. Please mark your calendars to be sure to stop by December 21 and 22.
