The Homs Department of Archaeology and Museums uncovered two burial chambers dating back to the late Roman era in the city of Homs (central Syria).
The burial chambers were found when the Homs Water Establishment was digging to carry out a service project in Abdulrahman al-Dakhel Street in al-Zahera area.
Director of Homs Department of Archeology and Museums said that the Department teams cleaned up the area and documented it using photographs and schematics, adding that 78 gold leaflets, 3 jars, 2 pots and 5 clay lanterns placed on the sarcophagi in the first chamber, while the second chamber contained 2 jars and 2 lanterns.
The finds were delivered to Homs Museum. The diggings in the area are being supervised in case other burial chambers or finds.
