A quick visit with darling Emma

It's been a busy weekend for cat-sitting and I was out the door late tonight with an unexpected phone call from a client. This lovely lady had an emergency in the city and her kitty needed an insulin shot for her diabetes. This was my first time doing the 'dirty deed' with Emma as she has just become diabetic last summer and I have not had the pleasure of caring for her recently. Emma is one of 5 cats owned by a wonderful family who like to say "they live with their cats". Emma is a lovely black and white persian with the familiar squishy face and the saucer eyes. Just a darling girl. So I rushed over, gathered up what was needed and in the wink of an eye, it was done. Before I left she came over to me and we played a game of "I got your paw" on the stairs. Love her to pieces.

I have cared for many diabetic cats over the years. Statistics show that 1 in 400 cats are diabetic and the numbers are growing. With proper care, diabetes should not alter a cats quality of life or its' life-span.

Along with getting to see Emma and Wilson (another of the cats in this household) I got a surprise when I walked in. There in the corner in the dining area was a huge (8 feet at least) fully-decorated with the most gorgeous of vintage and victorian decorations, CHRISTMAS TREE. oh GOODNESS......I WAS IN HEAVEN. This just makes me want to kick back with an egg-nog.

CHRISTMAS TREES ARE THE DECORATIVE 'STARS' OF CHRISTMAS

I hope to see these kitties again before Christmas because this lovely owner always has 3 large trees and 1 small one in her kitchen. Last year one of them was a theme tree all decked out with WALT DISNEY decorations. It was spectacular and made you feel like you were 8 yrs. old again. I do recall many little kitty stockings hanging on the mantel, too. :)

Dear God: Please have my mommy call Debbie to care for me over Christmas. She brings me toys and nip and she doesn't care if I cover her with my hair. She plays with me and carries me and sometimes we dance around the room. She gives me lots of attention because I am just a little kitty. She makes me happy and I luff her. Thank you.
hugs, Deb
