White Dog and Quinn and Steve stood in the predawn glow on the driveway and waved Luke, Murphy, and Hudson safe travels. There were soft woofs of "until next week" and calls of "Walk On!" Then the excitement was over.
White Dog and The Other White Dog took advantage of a no-obligation morning to return to sleep and to nap until nearly lunchtime. In the afternoon, I noticed WD staring expectantly out of her window. "What's the matter, Little One?" I asked and called her over for a belly rub. "It's just that nothing is happening; not even Gordon is coming over today!" she complained. "Thursday make the week too long."
"Hey, let's all go cuddle on the bed and I will read to you and TOWD," I suggested and started to get up. She hopped onto my lap. "Why don't we cuddle here and you can read, she countered. "Hmmmm." I thought that Quinn was leaving to get a drink from the water dish in the bedroom but he came back carrying a scrap of kleenex.
Quinn is not a shredder but has on many occasions been an enabler to his sister by reaching things that she cannot easily giraffe neck. White Dog's eyes drilled holes in my back as I walked to the bedroom following the trail of paper bits that littered the hallway and were ultimately mounded on the bed. On the floor, lay the empty box that she had needed help to nab. The dog door flapped just as I turned to react...and at the far end of the yard two fluffy White Dogs wandered trying to look nonchalant.
