White Dog looked her brother over head to toe and then nosed his side to adjust the hair regrowing over his shaved spot. "Please, whatever you do, do not embarrass me! These are my best buddies from the old agility club days!" We were standing at the front door of Buster's house, invited guests at Buster's special reunion brunch.
None of us had ever been there before and Quinn had never met any of the other pups except Dragon, and we were all nervous about The Other White Dog's reaction and behavior. I had to call White Dog over to sit with the host, who has been seriously in like with her since he first gave her dainty little floof a sniff years ago. (She had been too busy following TOWD around hawking his every move to pay poor Buster much attention)!
Quinn, as it turns out, is perfect on the social circuit. He did not mark, he patiently did all of the greeting rituals. He toured the yard and left pee-mail. TOWD was charming, poised, and exhibited perfect manners. The Other White Dog played in the yard with the Goldens, Casey and Autumn; went for a stroll with WD's friend, Daisy; played little dog chase with Poppy and Dragon; and spent time getting to know Buster the gentle wrinkly faced host. Quinn was even patient with Derek, Daisy and Poppy's human brother who could not resist the softness of the White Dogs.
After noshing and visiting and catching up, we loaded into the car so that Michael could go to his animal shelter volunteer "job." As we woofed and waved "goodbye," White Dog turned to her brother and gave him a quick nose nuzzle. "You made me proud, Quinn, great job!"
His smile could not have been brighter at her high praise.
