White Dog was keeping watch at the window perch and sounded the alarm the minute Steve pulled into the driveway. Quinn was instantly at the entry guard position and joined the woofing welcome chorus! The Art Show/ Balloon Fiesta week had officially begun. Our first guests and my fellow exhibitionist (you KNOW what I mean!), Hansel, Tesla and Benny's parents had arrived!
The Other White Dog ushered them into the living room where White Dog officially greeted them with a rather long-winded "Welcome to Albuquerque and my home" speech. After, being invited to sit and enjoy a cool beverage, the traveller's were thoroughly sniffed for messages from the cats and pup left back in Maryland. TOWD gently and graciously provided a soft broad back for petting while WD climbed up to her "overseer" spot on the arm of my chair to make sure every one's needs were being met.
When we decided to go to dinner at a place on the ridge that overlooks the entire bowl Albuquerque nestles in, the White Dogs were excited. They love the view and the barbecued meats served there. However, it was too dark and chilly for us to subject our visitors to al fresco dining so White Dog and Quinn were left behind with promises of a "doggie bag." As promised, White Dog enjoyed a beef rib bone and her brother beef brisket and grilled turkey.
Our Easterner friends retired to an early bed in hopes of adjusting to our 2-hour time difference (and their 5am travel time) before White Dog and TOWD take them horseback riding and rock climbing in the 'morrow!
