New evidence of Russian Imperial Family’s fate found near Yekaterinburg

New evidence relating to the execution of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II and his family has been found in the Sverdlovsk region.

As the regional Research-and-Development Center for Protection and Exploitation of History and Culture Monuments reported on the 29th of September, experts have found fragments of Japanese jugs used to pour sulfuric acid on the dead bodies of the Czar’s family members. The fragments were unearthed in the area of Old Koptyakovskaya Road.

According to the deputy chief of the Centre’s Archaeological Research Department Sergey Pogorelov, the find will make it possible to do a more detailed reconstruction of the events connected with execution of the last Russian emperor’s family.

Searches are regularly carried out on the sites related to this event, he also mentioned. In particular, in 2007 the bodies of Cesarevich Alexey and Princess Maria were discovered in Sverdlovsk Region.
