Teriberka excavations discover ancient human settlement

The Shtokman road construction surprisingly discovers an ancient settlement of Paleolithic humans.

terib The finding is dated to II Century BC; so far there have been excavated about 20 thousand archaeological evidences of the ancient settlement.

Over 50 scientists have come to Teriberka to study the findings.

There used to be warm dwelling facilities, says Arkady Korolev, a History teacher from Privolzhskaya Academy, to GTRK Murman. Peopled hunted and fished here adjusting themselves for local severe conditions. The mechanisms for local assimilation are to be discovered after scrupulous study.

All the findings discovered will be stored for display at Murmansk Museum of Local Lore.

The settlement is to be cleaned and given back for the road construction. Earlier the plans were to bend the road around the settlement, but swampy area around gives no chances for that.

All the archaeological works are paid by Gazprom.
