It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
I had a pretty good reading week complicated by three days of headache and two trips to the casino.
Here is what I finished and reviewed last week.
Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost is the second book in her Night Huntress World series. This one focuses on Mencheres who is a 4500 year old vampire.
Waking the Witch by Kelley Armstrong is in her Women of the Otherworld series and focuses on Savannah who is on her first solo case for the private investigation firm where she works.
Infamous by Suzanne Brockmann is a romantic suspense story about making a movie about a famous Old West gun fight. It features the historian who wrote the book, the great-grandson of the villain of the piece, and the ghost of said villain who knows he was framed.
Cast in Chaos by Michelle Sagara is heroic fantasy. This is the sixth in a very good series about a young woman who is called upon frequently to save her world from magical threats.
Dark and Stormy Knights edited by P. N. Elrod contains a number of short stories by a who's who of paranormal and urban fantasy authors. It is a good way to see the writing style of a number of authors.
A Safe Harbor: Finding Sanctuary by Moira Rogers is the start of a new series the is a prequel to the Red Rock Creek series that I read and enjoyed a while ago. I haven't reviewed this one and probably won't until the rest of the series comes out.
The Fire Lord's Lover by Kathryne Kennedy is the start of a new fantasy series that takes place in England in 1724. This alternate England has been conquered by lords of faerie.
Beautiful Malice by Rebecca James is a psychological thriller about a girl who is trying to get over the murder of her sister and the woman who befriends her but is obviously mentally ill. This is a YA Debut novel by an Australian author.
I am currently reading Water Bound by Christine Feehan. This is her latest release and is in the same world as the series about the Drake Sisters. It is paranormal romantic suspense.
Next week: Tomorrow is my birthday. I will be turning 60. My brother and I are planning to go out to lunch (as we do every Monday) but I have no other activities planned.
I think I will be going back to my winter home on Tuesday with a load of stuff. I have three grocery bags of books that I have read this summer and a couple of crates that I know I won't get to during my remaining vacation time.
I plan to get together with a friend and blog and have a True Blood marathon. When she came to visit a while ago we watched most of the first season. We'll finish that and go for the second season.
I don't know how much time I will have to read. I have a lot of time in the car but I don't have any audio books to make the trip productive. I'm bringing my Kindle with me. Between that and the crates of books I will have lots of choices if I have any reading time.
I know that when I return here to my summer home I will have at least 5 new books waiting for me. I have received notification from Amazon that they have shipped.
How was your week? Do you have any big plans?
