White Dog immediately went to Quinn's side and thrust her nose against his new incisions. It was late afternoon and Steve had just delivered our boy home from surgery. White Dog had spent most of the day napping listlessly, alternating with wandering through the house looking for her brother. I heard her a few times in the yard giving her "Come Here!" yip which usually prompts the The Other White Dog to come trotting in behind her; for most of the day there was no answering response.

For his part, TOWD looked very glad to be home and pushed his way out to the kitchen where he downed an entire bowl of water. He was still a little wobbly and had kind of glazed, staring off into infinity look but he would not lay down instead he paced the rooms of the house over and over.

WD shook her head as she sat next to me. "He's a mess." She opined. "And it is going to take months for his fur to grow out!" "Quinn is already a little embarrassed by his new look," I said, "let's be extra kind and we won't even ask him to pose for photos. Maybe in a couple of days he won't be so self-conscious." "If it were ME," White Dog whispered, "I wouldn't even go out of the house!" "BE NICE!," I cautioned in not very veiled tones.

The good news is that Dr. Julia removed both growths and found that neither were even skin tumors. They were warts (which is why they were hard) that under the double Eskie coat were hard to clearly see to diagnose. And now that they are removed she thinks he should not have any problem even with their spread. A look under the microscope revealed that Quinn had absolutely nothing to worry about!

So right now our beat up looking boy (who is very beautiful in our eyes) is without a cone. Dr. Julia has sent orders that if he tries to scratch the suture areas on his shoulder that we must either put him in a t-shirt or make him wear the dreaded cone. That test of willpower will come as his hair starts growing in!

To celebrate, tonight we all shared carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (Quinn LOVES cream cheese)! All is well at White Dog Ranch.
