White Dog and Quinn were not happy we were leaving them behind tonight when we went out to run errands but we returned to a beautiful, tranquil domestic scene...White Dog was comfortably sprawled on the momma chair where she usually sleeps when we are not there and The Other White Dog was equally cozy stretched on the fainting couch! What? Quinn, you are so relaxed there! Don't get up it's OK...The spell broken by our entry, White Dog sat up and barked "GET DOWN" orders at her brother who hopped off of the couch as though he had been caught doing something wrong. We were delighted by his beginning attempts at "making himself at home!"

Steve sat on the floor to play with the White Dogs and after a period of petting White Dog brought Lambie over for a few rounds of "toss and return" with me. Then, in a gesture of fairness, she brought her tennis ball to Steve.

Quinn does not play with toys. He watches intently and seems to enjoy the activity but the closest he comes to participating is to walk over to the thrown toy as if pointing it out to White Dog.

Tonight Steve rolled the ball for WD but she was suddenly not interested. BUT as the ball rolled past TOWD he reached out a paw and stopped it! We were elated. "Bring It!" Steve coaxed but Quinn just grinned and wagged his tail. Steve got the ball and rolled it again...and again TOWD proudly put his paw down on the ball...after the third time, Steve hugged the Big White One in praise.

While Quinn was being rewarded, White Dog walked around the coffee table to where the ball rested next to him. She quietly and quickly snatched the toy and put it in her "stash" of treasures by the hearth; then she laid next to it to protect what was "hers!"
