Unique Palace of 18th Century Unearthed in Tver Region

Some days ago archeologists made an important discovery near the town of Staritsa, in the Tver Region.

StaritsaAn expedition by local archeologists stumbled upon the remains of a splendid palace-and-park ensemble near the inflow of the Kholokholnya River, a tributary of the Volga.

Accoring to Alexey Salimov - the head of the expedition and professor of the Tver branch of the State Slavic Culture Academy – the palace-and-park ensemble dates back to the reign of Empress Elizabeth of Russia (aka Elizaveta Petrovna).

Archaeological investigation around the area of the unearthed palace are continuing.
