Some days ago archeologists made an important discovery near the town of Staritsa, in the Tver Region.
An expedition by local archeologists stumbled upon the remains of a splendid palace-and-park ensemble near the inflow of the Kholokholnya River, a tributary of the Volga.
Accoring to Alexey Salimov - the head of the expedition and professor of the Tver branch of the State Slavic Culture Academy – the palace-and-park ensemble dates back to the reign of Empress Elizabeth of Russia (aka Elizaveta Petrovna).
Archaeological investigation around the area of the unearthed palace are continuing.
