I had a good week. Here is what I read and reviewed:
Romancing the Dead by Tate Hallaway is the third in the Garnet Lacey series. Garnet is a witch who hosts a goddess named Lilith. In this episode she is newly engaged to a vampire who goes missing. And she is starting a new coven but one of the members wants to steel Lilith from her.
The Accidental Werewolf by Dakota Cassidy is a humorous story of a cosmetics saleswoman who is accidentally bitten by a werwolf and who has a very hard time adjusting to the idea that werewolves really exist and that she is now one herself.
Blood Song by Cat Adams is an urban fantasy with a human bodyguard turned into a partial vampire who, because of her mixed nature, becomes a target of demons and demon fighters.
Red Hot Fury by Kasey MacKenzie is another urban fantasy based on Greek mythology. The main character is a fury and her significant other is a warhound. This was interesting because of the unusual kinds of paranormals in it.
Magic Below Stairs by Caroline Stevermer is a middle grade novel in the Sorcery and Cecelia world. It looks at magic from the outside in the person of an orphan serving boy.
Majix: Notes from a Serious Teen Witch by Douglas Rees was a YA/MG book that was more a coming-of-age story than a paranormal. Kestrel is a self-proclaimed witch who is living with her aunt after her father's heart attack. She has to deal with the usual problems that a nonconformist has to deal with in high school.
Bonds of Justice by Nalini Singh is the next in the Psy/Changeling series. This one focuses on the Psy side in the person of Sophia. She is a powerful Justice Psy whose shields are shredding and who knows she doesn't have long to live. She and Max, a human police detective, are working on a couple of cases together. They fall in love.
I am currently reading:
The Search by Nora Roberts which tells the story of a woman who trains search and rescue dogs and who is the target of a serial killer.
I am still reading A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. I have gotten to Chapter 23 of 30. I am trying to read (or average) a chapter a day.
Next week I am taking part in the Once Upon a Time Read-a-thon from Monday through Wednesday. I will be choosing books from my stacks that excite me. I think that these will be included.
Legacies by Mercedes Lackey and Rosemary Edghill is the first in their new YA series.
The Grimm Legacy by Polly Shulman tells the story of a unique lending library.
Twice Bitten by Chloe Neill is the next in her Chicagoland Vampires series.
