Coronation Street train crash for 50th anniversary

Coronation Street Producer Phil Collinson was on This Morning, er, this afternoon, to answer questions about what's going to be happening in Corrie's 50th anniversary year. I only caught the end but he revealed that the viaduct is going to collapse and the street will be hit by a tram.

If this sounds familiar then cast your mind back to 1967 when a train came off the viaduct (my earliest Corrie memory as it happens) resulting in the death of minor character, Sonia Peters. This time round however, it's likely to be used as an opportunity for a more major cull of characters.

The events of the day will be played out over several nights. Read more about this on the official Corrie site.
