~But there are times when you just need to break the rules. THiS Is one of them!
In fact for a brief time~ there were '4 pomodori' in Italy.
I posted before on our trip to the market in Venice looking for Sardinian mullet roe. We found what we were looking for at the Casa Parmingiano. With our purchases in tow we headed to Jan's apartment to cook up our Bottarga Sauce.
Walking through the streets of Venice,
with a recipe from the amazing Marcella,
to cook (and eat) something we really had no clue about.
That is the kind of excitement that just makes me giggle!
The recipe, as many in the Essentials of Italian Cooking, is simple in it's ingredients. The process of cooking the garlic, onions, and mullet roe is a layering of flavors.
We were both a bit afraid of the overwhelming fishyness~ but to no avail. Once again, Marcella has presented a perfect blend of light Italian flavors.
The process, the flavors, the memory,
Amazing!
This was one of those moments in life you just can't make up!
Y'all enjoy~
Sandi
