White Dog has taught Quinn many things since he arrived in our family only four months ago (seems like he has been with us MUCH longer). He has been a quick study in some things, like where the food is stored, and slower in others (his party manners are still pretty spotty). For the most part the two White Dogs have formed a loving bond with clear boundaries. The Other White Dog patiently puts up with being bossed by THE White Dog and doesn't mind following her rules (for the most part). They are such different personalities but sometimes TOWD seems to really want to emulate his sister.
Last night, Michael knocked on the door to the bedroom wing after we had retired with, we thought, both of the White Dogs. He was laughing in the darkened living room as he waved us over to Siku's window perch chair, the chair she naps behind as well. It is a tight space and she must back her slender miniature body out when she exits. We peeked behind the chair to discover the standard sized husky Quinn squeezed and stretched thin as a wire trying to sleep comfortably in White Dog's spot. He couldn't get back out, Steve had to move the chair so he could come to bed.
Tonight White Dog and I were in the office when Steve got home from teaching. He and TOWD came in together to greet us. Steve said to White Dog, "I thought when I pulled up that something wasn't right about the White Dog standing on the perch to welcome me as I came in. When I got to the door I knew why...because it wasn't you!" Seems Quinn was trying out White Dog's lookout but had forgotten the bark like crazy to say "hi" part.
