White Dog and Quinn (as well as the rest of the family) were overjoyed at the news that Rocky, the adopted rescue that panicked and escaped his new forever family, has been brought in. Like everyone in the DWB world, we, too, crossed fingers and joined paws and sent gentle woos of support and encouragement to Rocky, the incredible volunteers who patiently kept to the task of bringing him home, and to all of the energies in the Universe to deliver a happy ending. We checked Khyra's blog and Facebook page nearly hourly for updates...and waited for the words that came this afternoon: "Rocky is safe and we have him!"

The news was better than the 4th of July...it was better than our team winning the pennant...it made us laugh and hug and cheer and cry. So we did what our family always does at times like this...White Dog decreed a Celebration! EVERYONE feasted on "Rocky" steaks and stroganoff noodles followed by "Home Again" cookies and fruit. We petted and cuddled and shook our heads in wonder at the way (when it really matters) people rise to the occasion and invest so much in one poor scared pup. We sternly looked at White Dog and The Other White Dog (especially him, a stray himself in his past life), and begged them never ever to run off for any reason. We promised that no matter what we would always keep them safe and protected...and in turn, they promised to trust us without question or fear.

Tonight we go to bed feeling pretty darn content. It was a good day. And we have much for which to be thankful. Goodnight, Rocky, sleep at peace.
