White Dog and The Other White Dog spent the day avoiding the heat by napping in cool spots around the house--waking for the essentials and then returning to the snooze. Of course, when Steve got home from class, exhausted after more that 12 hours of toiling, both White Dogs wanted attention and play. Not content with the idea that everyone could share "family time" together, each pup did his or her best to capture the King. White Dog hip checked her brother out of the way as she brought bee over for a game of fetch but was out maneuvered when Quinn (who doesn't play) chased along beside her every time she went out for the toss. TOWD buried his head in Steve's lap to prevent White Dog from sitting there; White Dog countered by hopping up on the chair, sitting on the arm, and leaning across Steve's chest to block his petting her brother. Both followed him, pushing and shoving for position, every time Steve walked anywhere (the kitchen, across the room to look at the mail, into the bathroom). Steve, looking very weary, finally gave up and laid on the floor...he was swarmed by white until he carefully arranged White Dog along his right side and Quinn on his left. Arms around each, he said, "I feel sometimes like I am being loved to death!"
