May 2, 2010
White Dog wanted to know, as the bicyclists dressed for the ride, why at the beginning of May, it was 41 degrees in Albuquerque? Candace pulled on another layer and Gregg zipped up his jacket as Steve cinched his gloves...no one had an answer. Those of us who stay behind and usually hang out in the sunny Nature Center area stalking the wildlife and napping in the grass (White Dog, Quinn and Dragon) opted for some outdoor run time and then hunkered down inside the car to await the riders. When it began raining in earnest (instead of the usually ABQ two minutes of "spitting") White Dog and her canine posse agreed that brunch al fresco was just not on the morning's agenda! Instead, they opted for a second run in the rain and then home to nap on the warmth of the bed. Since there was no one else at the Center, White Dog was off leash; she flushed a pair of Jackrabbits on this run and would have ignored the rain entirely for the thrill of chasing them around the duck pond but Steve called her back (muddy but happy). Quinn could not wait to get in the front door when we got home and was settled on his blankets, asleep, before we left Greenies and promises to bring home Styrofoam as we quietly headed back out to meet Gregg and Candace for indoor lunch.
