White Dog still has strict rules that she enforces about Quinn not being allowed to sleep in our bedroom. She sleeps on the bed and while she has more or less given up the battle over his use of the dog door, White Dog maintains that there is only room for one white dog per bedroom. Quinn has adapted and made himself a comfy spot complete with a soft blankets in Steve's closet in the office. After nite-nite snacks and "I love you" kisses, he retires there for his rest. Last night I felt The Original White Dog jump off the bed but I did not hear the dog door flap. I just assumed she was hot all cuddled together and that she had moved to her "alternate" spot under the chair. When Steve's alarm went off at 6am, I expected White Dog to jump up as usual and join us for a few minutes before Steve tore himself from the covers and faced the new day...but no dog appeared. I sat up and peered under the chair; she was not there. "Maybe she is outside," Steve suggested as he clambered upright. He was back in a moment, all smiles. "Guess where your little angel IS," he prompted. He continued without my answer. "White Dog is in the other room with the OTHER White Dog not quite sleeping together but close by and both are snoring!" I love starting the day with such happy news; while White Dog has grown to tolerate Quinn she still does not play with him or include him in her daily activities. Sharing a sleeping space was a huge step forward on White Dog's part. To celebrate we greeted both when they came into our room with effusive hugs and a few unexpected treats.
