Experts find 8th century Arabic text in Constantinople

Experts unearthed an Arabic text from 8th century during the excavations under Marmaray project in Istanbul, a Turkish newspaper said.

Ottoman manuscript expert from Istanbul Archaeology Museum, Gunay Paksoy, examined the text and there is no exact statement that it was a letter or an amulet, Bugün said.

Paksoy said that "There are four names, Ahmad, Mohammad, Amir and Mawali in the text", citing it was written by black ink.

Is is possible to read first three lines which started with Basmala.

The experts sais that it could belong Emevi that came Istanbul in 8th century to conquer Byzantine capital.

Another two similar texts were found but it is not possible to read them, experts said.
