Thousand year-old items unearthed in Quang Ngai

Archaeologists have discovered many valuable antiques dated back thousands of years ago in Nuoc Trong Lake in Quang Ngai.

Nuoc Trong Lake, where archaeologists discovered many artifacts from the post-Neolithic period. While surveyong Nuoc Trong Lake before building a hydro-power plant, archaeologists discovered many artifacts like stone-made axes, pestles and graters, along with terra-cotta pots and bowls from the post-Neolithic period.

In the first excavation, archaeologists found remains from Kor, Hre, Kdong and Cham people who lived in this area previously as well as Kinh pottery from the Ly, Tran and Le dynasties, establishing the existence of early trade between the groups.

a second excavation will be conducted at a cost of 2-3 billion dong.

Nguyen Dang Vu, the director of Quang Ngai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, remarked that the value of the Nuoc Trong archaeological site is huge and must be protected and excavated further.
