Local discovers Classical Greek burial in backyard

A classical Greek burial containing two human skeletons were unearthed by a local resident of Tychero village in the prefecture of Evros while digging in the garden of his home.

Evros, Tychero Archaeologists have identified the remains as that of two woman dating to the 5th or 4th centuries BCE. The burials were accompanied by a number of grave goods among which were two glass and two bronze bracelets.

Archaeologists were informed of the discovery by local police who had moved the remains to the Coroner’s Office in Thrace for further scrutiny.

The finds will be cleaned and examined at the Museum of Komotini, where archaeologists hope to determine their exact date.
