White Dog and Quinn milled around Michael this morning as we ate breakfast and prepared to go to his Parent-Teacher Conference (a first for Steve and I). When we returned an little over an hour later, White Dog was anxiously waiting in her window perch and Quinn greeted us at the door. "Well?" they both demanded before we were even all inside. Michael's Lead Teacher had given Michael a glowing report on his school work and focus. She was genuinely impressed at the progress he has made in spite of all the change and turmoil in his life. It looks like he will, indeed, graduate from high school this May... White Dog and Quinn both let out an excited "Woof!" at this news...and then he will continue on in the system in a Life Skills/ Job Training Program (those details will be fleshed out in the next couple of weeks)! Michael is more than a little nervous about more change but White Dog reassured him that these changes were good ones because they meant he was not a pup any more but someone who a voice and a choice in charting his destiny. Quinn, understanding the scariness of such big leaps, just laid his head in Michael's lap and smiled encouragingly.
