White Dog is gaining a clearer understanding of the human saying, "the best laid plans of mice and men..." . The plan was that Quinn and Michael would begin dog training last night and that the brother would make a much needed trip to the groomer today. Well...

Yesterday Quinn started coughing a deep hacking cough and bringing up little phlegmy bits. We called the vet who advised that we err on the side of caution and treat Quinn for kennel cough (considering he had been at the pound and that he had lived on the street). She prescribed antibiotics and wants to see him in 10 days...until then no contact with other dogs outside of the family (White Dog has been vaccinated). SO Quinn and Michael have been delayed until the end of the month to start classes...AND Quinn is going to have make do with brushing and dry shampooing (he still has neutering stitches) until his rescheduled appointment on St. Patrick's Day (which is somehow fitting for a Quinn). White Dog is not sure she stand the stinky boy that long but we reminded her of her rolling in cat poop exploits and she reconsidered.

With White Dog's blessing (provided we bring home leftovers) and Quinn's nod of approval, we instead of class met up with Gregg and Candace and took Michael to dinner where he enjoyed the messy hands on pleasure of crab legs and tried his first raw oyster on the half shell. The fur family at home swooned over the crab, tilapia, rice, and shrimp we brought back to share so that White Dog and Quinn could share in the celebration.

The best thing...Quinn was curled up waiting for us on the couch...acting as if he ALWAYS rested there. White Dog, of course, was in the momma chair because after all, we had left her in charge!
