White Dog and Quinn wish everyone a Happy Vernal Equinox today...from now on the days get longer and lusher (at least until the Summer Solstice)! Longer days mean that it will be light when Steve gets home from work and that it will once again be possible to renew the nightly game of fetch in the yard...of course, with a new twist, a tag-along brother!

We all celebrated the official arrival of Spring with Gregg, Candace and little Dragon (who loves having an extra Eskie to torment). We ate Middle Eastern grilled meats and humus and eggplant and falafil along with bright pink pickled beets and lemony garlicky baby potatoes as we discussed the earliest astronomers who watched and charted the heavenly bodies with amazing accuracy. We made plans to start up the Sunday bike ride, morning at the Nature Center ritual of warmer weather where the pups join me stalk road runners and jack rabbits while the humans pedal their way to fitness...of course, after comes brunch at a dog friendly eatery.

White Dog offered support and encouragement to Gregg who is seriously attempting to quit smoking. She even brought over Baby Lamb to play and to distract him when he started getting edgy for a post-food cigarette after lunch. Her ploy worked! Meanwhile, the sun shone in a cloudless blue sky and everywhere in the neighborhood daffodils, hyacinth, tulips and lilies pushed their cheering faces upward. Happy First Day of Spring, indeed!
