White Dog stayed up late to help me tally the comments for our donation to the ERU (Eskie Rescue United). "Not the I don't trust you," she said. "It is just that you're getting older and a little forgetful and well, you did, leave confusing information about when the comments had to be in!" "Sheesh!" I replied, "I am not forgetful; I remember to feed and love a certain White Dog don't I? I think you are just worried about our bet!" "Well, there is the matter of the lamb shank...so what's the count?"
61 comments on our March 14th post; 36 comments on our March 15th post...White Dog jumped in"That comes to 97! Aha! I beat you by one comment, mom! When can I collect that lamb?" Wait, I want to add the 17 wishes I got on Facebook ("Don't worry, I won't count those in our vote but for the donation let's add them in!")
"That makes a grand total of 114 comments!" White Dog did the math in her head..."That's $28.50!" Quinn trotted in and shared the news. "You are not going to send parts of a dollar, are you?" he pleaded. White Dog hit him with her paw, "No, Silly, mom is going to round the donation up to a nice even $30.00...we don't want to look like we're half-hearted in this."
"OK, then" I said, "I guess it is decided that the ERU gets a $30.00 donation thanks to all of your wonderful blogging friends who left such nice birthday wishes...and you get a lamb shank"
White Dog smiled an Eskie smile, "I knew I could count on everyone out there to help make your day special AND save a life. Happy Birthday, mom, from me, your one and only!"
