March 14, 2010

White Dog, Steve, Quinn, and Michael (with the help of super chefs Richard, Gregg and Candace) planned and executed a birthday-eve fete that was truly celebratory on so many levels. They invited friends that I haven't seen in months, in addition to heart family members. They arranged for the weather to put on a spectacular show ranging from storm building clouds, to rain, to big fluffy snow, to Land of Enchantment big blue skies to magnificent clear sunset colors. They fed me raspberries and cheesecake and stuffed peppers, and artichoke hearts, and shrimp salad with mangoes, and grilled carne asado with tomatillo salsa, and calabacitas, and green chile pinon enchiladas, and toasted me with champagne and mint Girl Scout cookies. I was lavished with gifts including the new wide screen 24" tall computer monitor that White Dog and I are now blogging on. Quinn gave me a card my sister had slipped to him at the Rehab Center last night...a handmade card drawn on printer paper with markers wishing me a special day. White Dog helped me open new reading material, art, herbs for the new garden and more. She sat on my shoulder and whispered in my ear the mantra I so often murmur to her..."You are SO lucky and SO loved!" "Of that," I softly answer back as I stroke her, "I have no doubts."

As my way of paying forward the good fortune and wonderful love that surrounds me, I take a page from White Dog. Tomorrow, March 15 (not really the Ides of March, Shakespeare was wrong), I will make a donation of twenty-five cents to The ERU (Eskie Rescue Fund) for every birthday comment left on White Dog's blog. Please let your friends and friends of friends know...every comment helps the cause of rescuing animals and finding them forever homes.
