Getting old is SO not fun!

Well, a few months ago, I started noticing  a some problems seeing my paperwork while at work.

I chalked it up to fatigue, stress, old glasses....you know, anything but age.

It continued to cause some problems, so I decided I needed to take the plunge and go to the eye doctor.

After all, it's only been FOUR years since I last went......

So bad, I know.

Well, my cutie-pie eye doctor confirmed my worst fears....

BIFOCALS!

UGH!

My prescription was off just enough that I would probably benefit from bifocals.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't mind wearing glasses.

I've had to wear them for the past 20 years or so, and they are just part of who I am.

I've tried contacts on several different occasions, and just can't quite make them work.

So, I've embraced my blindness and have tried to turn my glasses into a fashion statement.

I loved my old glasses, with the black/white/red stripes, but it was time to move on.

Move on with BIFOCALS!

I looked and looked, and finally found a set of frames that "would do".

I didn't instantly love them like my old faithfuls, but I liked them well enough.....

That is, until I put them on and tried to see.

I couldn't see ANYTHING!

I know bifocals take time to get used to, but after three days of migraines, neck strain, and tears....

I gave up!

I don't know if the lenses were just too small to try to incorporate two different prescriptions, but trying to live life looking through a 1/4" worth of lens just wasn't cutting it.

I also couldn't see to read any better through the bifocal part.

I took them back and had them replace the bifocal lenses with my normal nearsighted lenses.

Ahhhhh, much better!

Getting old may not be fun, but it doesn't have to be TORTURE!

When it gets to the point that my ability to read is greatly affecting my life, I will cave and try again, but next time I will make sure I choose much bigger frames!

Or maybe I should have just kept my old ones from 1989....
