White Dog was exhausted after a day of supervising the newcomers' move into their apartment and she did not protest at all when we announced that the moving crew was going out for celebratory Moroccan dinner. "Just remember that the White Dog loves lamb shanks!" she reminded each of us as we headed for the car. Alas, the restaurant had sold out of the fabulously tender shanks. Our choices of tagines and couscouses were every bit as tasty but the meat was boneless. White Dog looked up expectantly as we came in bearing Styrofoam boxes and forced herself out of the chair to follow Steve into the kitchen when he mentioned that "no lamb shanks were to be had." "So, what do we have?" she said sniffing the air. "Some incredibly aromatic chicken that will make you swoon," he replied as he opened and closed the boxes and mixed up a plate for her. "Delicious!" she exclaimed, burping after she wolfed down the meal. "Excuse me, that made the whole day so worthwhile! Now let's go to bed!"
