Following up on a December 2009 post, James Crippen again calls attention to a news story on Dena'ina language learning. This one appears in the Peninsula Clarion and describes Alan Boraas' ongoing efforts to facilitate Dena'ina language classes at Kenai Peninsula College. Boraas' approach is unique in that encourages appreciation of the rich Dena'ina literary tradition, which includes especially the works of the late Peter Kalifornsky. Boraas and his students make use of documentary materials such as dictionaries and grammar books to decipher written and texts. They also make use of archival recordings to link text and audio.

Evidence of Dr. Boraas' long-standing commitment to Dena'ina language classes can be found in this photo of Alan co-teaching with the late Peter Kalifornsky (1911-1993).
