White Dog generally enjoys our afternoon breaks when we sit together on the bed and read aloud to her, but for the most part she finds my books a little too human and tedious to follow with rapt attention (usually at some point she just falls asleep). We were both very excited to receive Three Stories You Can Read to Your Dog, a thoughtful gift from the Ozark Mountain Cats and their Eskies, Angel and Princess. The paperback, written by Sara Swan Miller, is illustrated by True Kelley, and is published by Houghton Mifflin Company. Here is White Dog's review:
" Each of the three stories is just the right length with a nice cadence. You can enjoy each tale and just about the time you start getting sleepy, it is done. It is especially neat because each story ends with the main character (You) taking a nap. Even though a brown dog is shown in the illustrations, I had no problem placing myself in the action and liked the pictures. The writer does an excellent job of sucking you into the plot...when she wrote in 'The Burglar', a burglar is knocking on the door, I had to run to make sure there wasn't. My favorite story was 'The Bone' with its beautiful bone tree. Suka, you might want to read 'The Wild Dog!' I recommend this book to any canine who wants to increase quality time with their humans cuddled together during these grey winter days...By the way, thank you very much Ozark Mountain Cats and Eskies!"
