White Dog and I, on this last day of 2009, spent time reflecting on the past year. There were some tough times (especially with my health), there were sad times (the loss of Hana, the need to put my dad into skilled nursing care), and there were times that tested our patience and faith in our fellow humans (the Washington Eskie puppy mill, continued fighting around the globe). But these were far overshadowed by examples of everyday compassion and caring we saw over and over again here in our community (the Circle of Paws, the fostering of pets awaiting forever homes, driving transports of adopted pets across country to start a "real" life). We have made friends, not just others who blog, who share with loving hearts and true interest. We have discovered that we are blessed with the most amazing network of support in the Universe...two- and four-leggeds who are there always, no matter what. We have learned that united we can make miracles happen and we can change the world (slowly, but we can change it)!
There is much that needs to be improved in 2010, but we have hope. And we know we are not alone. From this White Dog and I are certain that the coming year arrives tonight dressed in glorious possibility.
Our New Year's wish to each and every one of you, our friends, is this:
May the brightness of the new year continue to shine with hope. May it bring to all a sense of belonging, of peace, of contentment and fulfillment. May you have health enough to enjoy beautiful adventures and to explore the wonder that fills the world. May your bowl never be empty. May there always be a paw or hand to wrap around you when you are cold, or lonely or scared. Mostly, we wish you a heart filled with, and by, love.
Happy New Year from Siku Marie, the White Dog and Susan and Steve
