White Dog is very disciplined and well-mannered. She is a girl who follows the rules and happily (for the most part) accepts the boundaries that have been established. There is one thing, however, that is her irresistible temptation...Kleenex, especially crumpled up used ones. White Dog loses all sense of decorum and reason when she happens across the wadded up tissues. She hides them in her mouth, refuses to "drop it", growls protectively, and has even been known to nip at the unsuspecting hand that reaches to take one from her. Steve has been suffering from a stuffy head the past few days and has filled the wastebasket with quite a few "temptations." White Dog knows not to go into the garbage and usually is fine with the rule...yesterday, though, I walked into the computer room to find White Dog, head in basket, mouth full of wadded whiteness. She ignored my commands and rushed past me into the bedroom. When I followed her and sat next to her she batted my hand and growled a throaty "get your own!" I sternly told her that she was being mean and that in our house we did NOT act like that. She contritely put her head in my lap to apologize but still did not give up her prize. Finally she yielded to my insistence and let go...but then ran right back to the wastebasket to grab a new one! (That is why our basket now sits on the side table!)
