Mom let me post just this one photo from their October 4, 1980 original wedding.
It was in rural Michigan and the temperature was about 38 degreesF. Aren't they the hippest?
You should see the rest of the album...hahahaha
White Dog wanted Steve to see our surprise the minute he walked in from class but I made her wait until after the starving man ate dinner. Then, with her at my side, we opened the tiny blue box and watched Steve's face. White Dog and I had found the most perfect bands and could not resist...we ordered them for the Recommitment Ceremony! Made of titanium (a strong metal for a strong relationship), the bands also had a personal significance to Steve. His father was a chemical engineer who held several of the first patents for man-made diamonds. The bands have cubic zirconia: Steve's a small line embedded; mine a single one gripped by the band on either side. "We never even talked about rings," Steve murmured misty eyed as he tried his on. "They are so wonderful!" He put mine on my right-hand ring finger and hugged me tightly. We felt a nudge under our arms and opened our embrace so that White Dog could join us.
