White Dog is forever trying to find ways to be helpful and assist us in household chores. Tonight, however, she was too helpful. After the bedtime walk, Steve went out the back door to take the garbage can to the curb. Unbeknown to him White Dog slipped out of the dog door and followed as he wheeled the cart to the front of the house. He returned and locked the gate; White Dog had stopped to sniff and didn't make it back through. As we got into bed I asked, "Where's our Princess?" "Oh, probably out patrolling the perimeter of the yard," Steve replied as he prepared to turn off the light. My spidey sense said something wasn't right so I called White Dog to come in from the yard...no response. "Is she still in the living room?" (we close off the bedroom wing at night). Steve groaned but got up to look. "Did she help you take out the trash?" "I don't think so!" Steve opened the blind and checked the curb. As he started to close them again, a sudden movement at the front door caught his eye. It was White Dog patiently waiting without complaint at the door for entry! Steve hurried to let her in and apologized over and over. White Dog hopped up on the bed and curled up..."I knew you would open the door soon," she said as she closed her eyes. I hugged White Dog so tightly she squirmed, then we turned off the lights.
