White Dog has noticed that days are cooler and that it is once again pleasant to lie on the deck basking in the long afternoon sun. She brought in her first yellow-orange leaf for a trade and we tucked it into the frame of the mirror so we could admire nature's work. Autumn is coming. We can smell it in the early morning freshness and the scent of roasting chilies all over town confirms what our nose tells us. Soon we will have to turn on lights before Steve gets home from work. White Dog does love sleeping in the Fall when it is still warm enough to keep the windows open but by morning we are all cuddled together wrapped in the blanket. Now White Dog and I sit together thinking that this seasonal change is sort of bittersweet...already missing lazing through the baking summer day but anxious to answer Autumn's call to crunch through leaves.
